I met Sharon in 2003 when I was looking
for a Birman kitten. She invited me to a
show and we hit it off. Sharon was a
funny, tough, sweet, hardheaded lady after
my own heart. She was an experienced
breeder (Birmnsrus, Purrzzbir and Pashar
Catteries) who was willing to take her time
and trouble with a total newbie -
something I see far too little of in the cat
fancy. She knew what she wanted to see in
the Birman breed and was so generous of
her time and knowledge with me and many
others. She sent me home with one of her
pregnant queens to help me decide if I was
cut out to be a breeder. She didn't have a
fit when I called her at 4AM when the
kittens came to find out (again) how much
Oxytocin to give. She shared a ride and a
room at a show when I was short of cash.
She invited my husband and I into her home. She put up with my niece and nephew
coming along when I was babysitting for a weekend.
She answered a gazillion questions about Birmans specifically and showing/breeding
in general. She let me use her as a sounding board regarding my cats and anything
else I wanted to discuss.
I hope the cats I breed will show at least a little of the positive influence she
shared so generously. One of my greatest regrets is that we lost her before she
could see what she inspired in me to work with and do with her beloved Birmans.
She made a difference in my life and the world is a poorer place for her passing.
She was my friend.
We miss you Sharon. I'm blessed to have known you, even for a short while. Kiss
all the kitties across the Rainbow Bridge until we meet there again.
